先日のブログで、テンプル大学日本校で音楽療法の博士号課程が提供されるという話をしました。
In my last blog, I talked about the full Ph D program in music therapy being offered at Temple University Japan (TUJ).
今日はそのプログラム統括責任者であるシェリル・デリオ博士について紹介しましょう。
Today I will talk about Dr. Cheryl Dileo, Coordinator PhD Program in Music Therapy.
デリオ先生の音楽療法に関する造詣の広さと深さには、いつも驚かされます。
Dr Dileo’s knowledge in music therapy is so deep and wide that it always impresses me.
９月の初めに視察でアメリカに行った時もそうでした。私は武庫川女子大学の松本先生のお供として、アメリカの矯正施設における音楽療法プログラムを視察することになっていました。
I was impressed with her wealth of knowledge in the field of music therapy when I saw her last time in September when I visited the US. I was there to escort Dr. Matsumoto of Mukogawa women’s university to observe music therapy programs at correctional institutions in US.
最初の視察地は、私がインターンを行ったペンシルベニア州の刑務所だったのですが、そこを訪れる前に、テンプル大学本校のデリオ先生を表敬訪問しました。
The first observation site was going to be the prison in Pennsylvania, where I interned. Before the observation, we paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Dileo at Temple University main campus.
松本先生を紹介し、今回の視察旅行の目的を説明すると、デリオ先生は、「刑務所の音楽療法ということであれば、〇〇知ってる？」「刑務所でも発達障害のある受刑者が対象ということであれば、ニュージャージーに〇〇がいる」「イギリスの〇〇が今度刑務所における音楽療法に関する本を出版する」…などと、次々にその領域に関係している音楽療法士を、アメリカのみならず世界中から、しかも最新の情報として紹介してくれました。
When I introduced Dr. Matsumoto and explained the purpose of our visit to the US, Dr. Dileo started talking about various music therapists in the field of correctional music therapy to us, not only from America but also from all over the world, with up-to-date information. It was like “If are interested in MT at correctional setting, specifically for those who have developmental disability, there is a music therapist in New Jersey ….”, or “The book about correctional music therapy is going to be published by the British music therapist …”, and so forth.
そしてすごいのが、デリオ先生はその人達みんなを個人的に知っていたということでした。「〇〇は私の親友」、「私は〇〇の指導教官だった」という感じに。
And what I was most impressed was that she knows them all in person! She said like “… and (the therapist) is a good friend of mine” or “… and I taught her (the therapist)”.
それにもかかわらず、それを自慢することもなく、常に優しく敬意を表してくれます。
Still, she never brags about all she has. She is very gentle and always pays respect to us.
